Biography
​​​​​Son of Auguste Chouteau, Augustine Aristide Chouteau rejected a formal education in Montreal to work in the family fur trade. He was stationed for a time with siblings and cousins at the family fur post in Kansas. He accumulated 7,000 acres of land before dying in his 20s. He was a member of the Chouteau/Clark kinship group.​
